Turister skremmer vekk hippier (1974)
Ibiza har en historie som hippiedestinasjon. Du ser spor av det den dag i dag, men det er snart 40 år siden hippiene ble presset vekk av turistindustrien.
I et gammelt avisutklipp fra 24. juli 1974 (funnet via Google Archive News) i den amerikanske avisen Portsmouth Times, står det om konflikten mellom hippier og turister på Ibiza og Formentera. Sitat:
“Hippies are having a tough time keeping one step ahead of tourists as well aas police. Four years ago the long haired nomads gound good vibrations on Ibiza and on this neighbouring island 60 miles off the Spanish mainland.
..
“Then came the summer “freaks”, the trendy jet-setters, the package tours, and business boomed. The freaks ruined the equilibrium.
